Your Computer,
Can Make A Difference.
How Does This Help The Environment?
Every year, more than 50 million tons of computers are thrown away. Unfortunately, these computers pile up in landfills worldwide, leading to a dangerous and ever-growing amount of e-waste. Your unusable device donated to C4C is recycled safely with R2 certified plants to prevent e-waste in landfills. Why Should I Donate My Device Instead Of Throwing It Away?
Your donated device either goes to one of our nonprofit partners who get it into the hands of community members in need. Or it is safely recycled, which funds C4C and eliminates e-waste. Closing the digital divide and decreasing e-waste is a lot better than a laptop in a landfill! How Do I Know My Device Is Secure When I Donate It?
You can trust your device is secure using a variety of ways. 1. You can wipe the hard drive before donating it. 2. You can remove the hard drive, and we’ll replace it. 3. For a NIST wipe, you can pay a small fee; however, the operating system we install does a complete overwrite of the hard drive. What Happens To My Device If You Can’t Use It?
If our technician deems your donated device unusable, we will donate it to our strategic R2 certified recycling partners. You can read about one of our partners, Powerhouse Recycling, here. What Devices Do You Take?
We recycle old landline phones, speaker wire/cables, cell phones, laptops, servers, routers, modems, desktops, and more; any e-waste except for TVs, printers, and copiers. Where Does My Device Go When I Donate It?
Your device goes to a strategic nonprofit partner. We have several partners locally, nationally, and globally. Once we turn donated devices into Chromebooks, we give them to nonprofits free of charge. We equip nonprofits with the tools they need for their communities to succeed. We champion our partners and their members! How Is C4C Different From Your Competitors?
Most of our competitors, if not all of them, are for-profit, not non-profit. We give our refurbished devices free to other nonprofits; most organizations sell them as second-life or used computers. We reuse before we recycle, ensuring our communities are the number one priority. All revenue goes back into our mission as a nonprofit. Computers for Community is one of the only non-profit VARs (valued added resellers). |
